We go through life being asked what we want to do in the future, and to have a plan. Okay, I can’t even say that I really had a "plan" at 24 years old, and definitely not even an iota of an idea at 4 years old, but not Jaxson. He’s got one all mapped out!
Jaxson and I were having a little discussion about who he gets to tell what to do. Basically, it is not his job to boss his sister around. I told him that when he has his own kids, then it’s his job. So that, in turn, prompted the following conversation:
Jaxson: “Mom, I have a plan. Right now I am small, but when I get big like Daddy, you will have to give me away.”
Mommy: “Why will I give you away? Where will you go? Will you still live with me?”
Jaxson: “I will just go outside and wander around for awhile. Until I get my driver’s license and a car. Then I’ll get my own house and some money; because I will need new clothes since these ones won’t fit me anymore. Then I will find a girl.”
Mommy: “Will you still talk to me? Can I still see you?”
Jaxson: “Yeah, I’ll just give you directions to my house so you can come over”
Mommy: “Well, okay, that sounds good”
Jaxson: “Then I will find a wife and have a baby, but I don’t know what her name will be.”
Mommy: “What do you want in a wife?”
Jaxson: “I want her to be really pretty”
Mommy: “Anything else?”
Jaxson: “No, that about covers it. Oh, and I will have a home phone too so if you forget how to get to my house, you can just call me and I will tell you how to get there. I don’t know what my phone number will be yet, but I will tell you when I know it. My wife will probably tell me the number.”
So, I sit here laughing to myself thinking, how on earth does a 4 year old come up with this? Or maybe I am just a tad bit jealous that I didn’t have things this figured out when I was twice that age! I guess I should be happy that he has a plan, and has everything all figured out. It could be worse……he could have planned to run away and join the circus!
